Maoists, NC patch up in Gorkha

TANAHUN, July 9: UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress in Gorkha have entered into an agreement to refrain from violent attacks on each other.



The agreement was reached during a joint meeting between the two parties. A seven-point understanding made reached on Friday after the two-party meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. Both sides have expressed commitment to abide by the agreement.



Maoist district in-charge Krishna Dhital and NC District President Chinkaji Shretsha said the parties will not obstruct each others´ organization expansion programs, will not block movement of their cadres.



A press release issued by the parties also said they will refrain from using educational institutions for political purposes.



The relations between the two parties were strained some two weeks ago over the formation of a management committee of Dullab Higher Secondary School at Ghyampesal.
