Maoists make mockery of rule of law: Nepal

By No Author
BIRATNAGAR, Nov 11: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal said the UCPN (Maoist)’s act of protecting lawmaker Balkrishna Dhungel, who had received life term penalty from the Supreme Court, is a mockery of the rule of law.

Speaking at a program organized by the Morang Chapter of Press Chautari Nepal, on Friday, he said, "Criminal persons should not be involved in politics." [break]

"This episode has further exposed the Maoists character", Nepal said.

UML leader Nepal blamed that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has formed a jumbo cabinet to strengthen his hold in power. He added that the present Prime Minister talks about austerity while at the same time giving financial burden to the nation by forming a jumbo cabinet.

He said the government tries to overshadow the seven-point agreement instead of concluding the peace process by implementing the agreement in letter and spirit.

UML was for national consensus government, said UML leader Nepal in the program chaired by Press Chautari Chairman Madhav Adhikari.
