Maoists key to peace, statute tasks: Deuba

BARDIBAS, Nov 14: Nepali Congress party’s senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said the completion of the peace process and constitution writing hinges on the performance of the UCPN (Maoist).



Speaking in a discussion cum meeting with the party cadres organized by the Nepali Congress Mahottari District Committee on Sunday evening, leader Deuba said he believed the country could get the peace and the constitution if the Maoist lives up to the terms of the seven-point agreement signed by the major parties. [break]



He added that the peace process would not be complete without the sincere efforts for the same by the Maoist as it was one of the major party to the peace process.



On the topic of the internal differences in the Nepali Congress, party senior leader Deuba said the rejection by the party president Sushil Koirala of his resignation from the post of central member does not hold any water unless the party president addressed their demands.



Another leader Bimalendra Nidhi called on the UCPN (Maoist) to complete the peace and constitution writing without blaming other parties as it is now at the helm of government.
