KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The meeting of the two largest ruling parties -- Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) -- that was convened to name heads of the Constituent Assembly (CA) committees ended inconclusively on Sunday.

A Maoist leader blamed the UML, alleging that the party claimed at least six committees.

Dev Gurung of CPN (Maoist) said the Maoists had proposed eight seats for themselves, five each for Nepali Congress and the UML, two heads for Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, one each for Tarai Medhes Democratic Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one for other small parties in the CA.

"But, we could not reach agreement as the UML claimed six heads of the committees," said Gurung, who is also minister for Law, Justice and Constituent Assembly Affairs.

The meeting will resume on Monday to take up the issue again.
