As per an 8-point agreement among the four ruling parties - UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) - the post of National Assembly Chair would be from the Maoist Center while the post of Vice Chair would be held by the UML. However, after its inclusion in the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party in the coalition, the party, too, staked its claim to the vice-chair position, making the four-party agreement to allocate the position to the UML ‘irrelevant’.
The election to the vice chairperson of the National Assembly will be held on April 10.
