On Tuesday, Sharma’s group launched a campaign called “Progressive Campaign, Nepal”, marking its open rebellion against the party leadership. Sharma’s faction expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership’s approach, claiming the party’s unification process has turned into a betrayal of the revolutionary cause.
In a statement, the faction said, “Our comrades are falling victim to political mismanagement while alive. Moving further into a parliamentary system dominated by comprador capitalism would have been a betrayal of the revolutionary movement.”
The group also accused the party of extreme individualism, lack of policy and factionalism, stating that ideological debates have been reduced to farcical performances.
The statement criticized the leadership’s arrogance, fueled by the behavior of leaders who had left and later returned to the party, which has reportedly distanced it from the working masses. It warned that the widening gap between the party and the people could escalate into social unrest.
