KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The CPN (Maoist Center) will pick the office-bearers on Monday.
Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed a 236-member central committee in the ongoing 8th general convention. Among them, 132 were recommended under the open category and 125 under proportional.
All the names proposed by Dahal were unanimously endorsed in the closed session of the General Convention. Party Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, told media on Sunday that the first meeting of the newly-elected central committee on Monday will pick the office-bearers.
The central committee will elect a politburo, standing committee members and office-bearers. The most senior member of the party will chair the Monday's meeting of the central committee since it will elect party chair, senior vice-chairperson, general-secretary, deputy general-secretary, secretary and treasurer.
The 8th general convention of the party was inaugurated last Sunday. Party Chair Dahal submitted the political proposal while party leader Dev Prasad Gurung presented a draft statute last Monday. Group discussions were held last Tuesday and Wednesday.
