Maoist Center elects 236 CC members from General Convention

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Eighth General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Center) on Sunday unanimously elected 236 central committee members.

Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced the names in the closed-door session of the ongoing General Convention of the party. 

The names were unanimously endorsed by the General Convention representatives. With the announcement of the electoon of CC members, the Eighth General Convention of the Maoist Center concluded on Sunday itself.

Of the 145 CC members under the open category, details of 111 CC members have been received and the new CC would nominate the remaining 34 members.  

Likewise, names of 125 CC members under the proportional system have been announced from different ethnic communities, regions and other clusters. The CC would nominate 29 individuals under the proportional seats. 

As per the statute, the Maoist Center's CC will be of 299 members.    

The CC members elected under the open category include Dahal, Nep Bahadur Tharu Chaudhary, Laxmandutta Joshi, Sarad Singh Bhandari, Khagaraj Bhatta, Trilochan Bhatta, Madhav Sapkota, Shalikram Jamarkattel, Hit Man Shakya, Mukti Narayan Pradhan and Ishwari Prasad Bhattarai.

Likewise, Sunil Kumar Manandhar, Haribol Gajurel, Sudan Kirati, Hemraj Bhandari, Rajendra Karki, Surendra Kumar Kakri, Ajaya Shankar Nayak, Jog Kumar Barbariya, Matrika Prasad Yadav, Girirajmani Pokharel and Ganesh Shah are also elected the CC members.

Barshaman Pun, Kul Prasad KC, Chakrapani Khanal, Krishna Dhwoj Khadka, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Bamdev Chhetri, Ram Dip Acharya, Shakti Basnet, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Gajendra Bahadur Mahat, Janardan Sharma and Leelamani Pokharel, among others are in the list of the open category. 

14 members elected from Khas Arya (Male) category

A total of 14 male members have been elected to the central committee from Khas Arya (Male) category. They are Narayan Dahal, Surya Subedi and Keshav Nepal, among others. 

Four youths have been elected to the central committee in Khas Arya (Youth) category. They are Bijaya Bhandari, Durga Chapagain, Anil Sharma and Lal Bahadur Sodari. 

Likewise, 25 females have been elected to the central committee from Khas Arya (Female) category. Those who were entrusted with the responsibilities were Asha Koirala, Sita Pokharel, Renu Dahal and Devi Khadka, among others.

Elected in the Khas Arya (Youth) category were Yasoda Neupane, Om Kumari Poudel and Geeta Timalsina, among others. 

11 members from indigenous category 

A total of 11 central members have been elected in the central committee under indigenous category. They are Ram Kumar Rai, Dilip Prajapati and Man Bahadur Budha Magar, among others. 

Four youths from indigenous communities under the youth category were elected. They were Indra Bahadur Angbo, Hem Kumar Rai and others.

In indigenous community female category, 22 women including Amrita Thapa, Onsari Gharti and Kamala Roka were elected. 

From Dalit category, three male were elected namely Bishu Bahadur BK, Yam Bahadur Pariyar and Jagat Parki while 11 women were elected from Dalit women category such as Anjana Bishankhe, Shanti Nepali and Durga Kumari BK. 

Subodh Shreepali and Parbati BK were elected from Dalit youth male and female category respectively. 

Moreover, from the Madheshi male category, Jagat Yadav, Shiva Kumar Mandal and Ram Kumar Yadav were elected. Surendra Mehata was elected from the Madheshi youth category while Bodhmaya Kumari Yadav and Sunita Kumari Yadav were elected from Madheshi women category. 

Similarly, those from the Tharu category include Santa Bahadur Tharu, Hari Narayan Chaudhari and Devi Lal Chaudhari, Amon Lal Modi, Anjana Chaudhari, Krishna Chaudhari and others.

Hakikullah Musalman and Kaushar Saha are the central members from the Muslim community. Those representing the backward region are Naresh Bhandari, Devaki Malla and Kumar Poudel.
