Maoist Center office bearers’ meeting today

KATHMANDU, March 19: The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) held a meeting of its office bearers today in response to the arrest of the party’s Vice Chairman, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, on Monday.

Mahara was apprehended in Bhairahawa over allegations of his involvement in a gold smuggling case.

The probe commission to investigate the gold smuggling case had previously recommended the government to take legal action against Mahara based on suspicions related to the case.

The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to remand Mahara in custody for four days for further investigation.

In light of these developments, the party scheduled the office bearers meeting for this morning at the residence of Prime Minister and Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Baluwatar.
