The Maoists had earlier asked the rebel candidates to withdraw their candidacies by October 17. Issuing another statement on Tuesday, the party said that more time was provided to withdraw the candidature or make it inactive. It has also clarified that if the withdrawal is made within that time, no action will be taken against the rebel candidates by the party.

Earlier, the Maoists had warned that those who had fielded themselves against the official candidates would be expelled from the party and action would be taken accordingly. The Maoists have asked those who have filed rebel candidature to withdraw and support the official candidates of the ruling alliance.
