KATHMANDU: Bramhadeo Sah is a 60-year-old man living in Damaitol, Kathmandu. He is originally from India, and came to Nepal some 16 years ago. He earns his living selling balloons in the streets of Kathmandu, making swift escapes from the metropolitan police time and again. He does not produce the balloons and toys himself, but buys them from Chhetrapati. He has been selling balloons and toys since he came to Nepal.
He earns around RS 700 to Rs 800 each day. He says his earning is more than enough for him. He lives alone in Kathmandu. His family, including his son and a daughter is currently in India looking after their property.
Do you love balloons?
His wife died some 10 years ago. “Except for the fact that I have a lonely life, I am mostly happy. My job is satisfactory and I can survive by selling balloons,” says Bramhadeo.
He says he visits his hometown once every year during the time of Tihar and Chhat to see his family.
