Sarki fled after hacking his wife Tulasi Achhame Sarki, 29, to death with an axe, his relatives in Dharan said.
According to Navin Bishal, a relative, Sarki killed his wife at around 9 p.m. on Monday after a quarrel. He chased his wife 50 meters away from the house and attacked her on the neck, abdomen and head with an axe. Before killing his wife, Sarki also injured his 18-year-old daughter Sarita by hitting her with the axe´s handle, Navin added.
Area Police Office Dingla said they have sent Tulasi´s body to the Sankhuwasabha´s district hospital in Khanbari for postmortem.
Sarki´s relatives said he could have fled to India as he had gone there for employment before.
