BALEWA, Jan 10: A man died after he was hit by shrapnel released from a gun he was carrying with him in Baglung. The victim has been identified as Om Bahadur Gharti, 47, Bongadobhan of Tamankhola rural municipality.
Gharti who left his home carrying a loaded-gun, citing that he was going to chase away monkeys was hit by shrapnel as his gun got released all of a sudden. Though he was rushed to the Zonal Hospital Baglung, he was pronounced dead on the arrival, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jhabindra Bhattarai said.
The incident happened around 2:00 am Thursday, locals said. He had sustained injuries to his hand and leg. It was a matter of the investigation whether the gun was licensed or not, police said. The body will be handed to the family after going through required investigations and a post-mortem, police said.
