BIRATNAGAR, March 20: A man committed suicide after killing his wife in Belbari, Morang.

Bam Bahadur Limbu, who was living in Belbari Municipality-1 Bhedatole, committed suicide after killing his wife at around 1 o'clock on Tuesday night while their son managed to escape and survive.

According to the police, 60-year-old Bam Bahadur hit his 45-year-old wife Geeta Limbu with a sharp weapon at around 1AM. Police said Geeta died on the spot.

DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal of the District Police Office, Morang, said that Bam Bahadur used the same weapon to take his own life after killing his wife.

The deceased had been living in Nirmala Rai's house on rent for four years. The incident was reported to the police at around 2 o'clock on Tuesday night, after which the police arrived and found Geeta’s dead body.

Bam Bahadur, critically injured, was rushed to Nobel Medical College for treatment, but doctors declared him dead soon after reaching the hospital.

Initial investigations suggest that the dispute between the couple escalated, leading to the incident. It appears that Bam Bahadur's violent outburst may have stemmed from a domestic altercation.

DSP Dahal said, "The ongoing altercation likely escalated, resulting in this incident."
