KATHMANDU, Sept 23: A woman was killed while two others were injured when a person claiming to have divine possession indiscriminately attacked them with Khukuri in Dang.
Police said that Rita Lamichhane, 43 lost her life when a local Tek Bahadur Malla attacked her with a khukuri (machete) at Beltakura in Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city-11.
Malla, who killed Lamichhane with a Khukuri, also left Bir Bahadur Hamal and his mother Chandrakumari of the same village injured with Khukuri. Hamal, who was injured by the khukuri attack, is currently undergoing treatment in Tulsipur.

Malla, who was attacked with Khukuri, has been detained by the police. According to DSP Thakur Prasad Pokhrel, Chief of Area Police Office, Tulsipur, Tek Bahadur came out of the house with a Khukuri and targeted anyone he encountered on his way.
His first victim was Rita Lamichhane, who was residing in her home. After fatally injuring Lamichhane, he proceeded to attack Chandrakumari Hamal and her son, Bir Bahadur, who lived in the house next to Lamichhane. Police promptly arrived at the scene and arrested him along with the Khukuri.
He has given a statement before the police that he had no intention to kill and that he had acted this way because he believed he was possessed by a divine entity.
DSP Pokharel said, "It is found out that he attacked anyone who came on his way. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.”
