SOLUKHUMBU, Nov 12: A Malaysian backpacker has died at Dingboche of Khumbu-Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-4 in Solukhumbu district. The District Police Office has identified the deceased as 43-year-old Wong Benadi.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaligram Sharma said that Benadi died at Good Luck Hotelat Dingbuche on Sunday night. Benadi was one of the member of a group of four Malaysian backpackers who had arrived Khumbu on Sunday. They had stayed at the hotel.
It is suspected that Benadi died from high altitude sickness. The victim’s body has been airlifted to Kathmandu for carrying out an autopsy at the TU Teaching Hospital, after completing the required legal process here.
