Mala and Parvati in final

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Mala Rai will face Parvati Giri in Women´s 46 kg final of the Second Nationwide Open Boxing Championship being held at Lalitpur. Mala, a boxer from the Armed Police Force defeated Bisnu Suhang while Parvati from Makuwanpur beat Nisha Gaire in the semifinal bout on Tuesday. [break]



In women´s 48 kg semifinal, Suraj Muni of Jhapa and APF boxer Pramila Pande thrashed Nangaja Budha and Susma Saud respectively to book the places in Wednesday´s final.



APF´s Bhaya Chaudhary and Nepal Youth Boxing Club´s Rupa Lama guaranteed final bout between them in 51 kg as they overpowered Kaski´s Ishwari Basyal and Sapana Thapa respectively.



Likewise, Nisha Tamang of Nepal Police and Sanju Lama of APF secured their berth in the women´s 54 kg weight category final while Arati Thapa from Parsa and Anuradha Lama from the Nepal Police entered the final of women´s 57 kg. Another APF boxer Dipa Chhetri will take on Pramila Rai from Jhapa in women´s 60 kg final as they defeated Minas Rai and Indu Nagarkoti respectively.







In men´s 48 kg class, Hasta Bahadur GM from Dang defeated Laxuman Silakar in semifinal to set a final clash against Chitwan´s Surendra Darlami who beat Dhrishta Kumar Shahi of Surkhet.



In men´s 51 kg Keshab Gurung from Surkhet will take on Laxman Tamang of APF in the final being held on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Suman Lama and Puran Rai will share punches in the final of 54 kg weight category.



In men´s 57 kg APF personnel Purna Bahadur Lama and Surendra Karki of Tikathali Boxing Club reached the final where Prakash Basnet will take on Narendra Maharjan in 60 Kg weight category.



Likewise, Bikash Bal from the APF and Nepal Police personnel Ratna Bahadur Tamang will fight for gold in men´s 64 kg While Kiran Khadka of Tikathali will face APF man Devendra Maharjan in 69 kg group.



As APF boxers dominated the semifinal clash, Ganesh Ram Chaudhary entered the final of men´s 75 kg where he will compete with Army man Uddhab Khatri. In the same way, another APF man Prakash Jora crossed the semifinal threshold and set a final clash with Dipak Maharjan of Bosigaun Boxing Club.



In men´s 91 kg weight category, Kailash Rai of Dhading and APF´s Mahesh KC will fight for gold.



The championship organized by Lalitpur District Boxing Association and Nepal Boxing Association will conclude on Wednesday.
