MAHENDRANAGAR, Aug 23: With the locals continuing protest against the police for ‘framing’ a mentally ill person in the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta, Mahendranagar remained tense even on Wednesday.
Locals have vented their ire against police for arresting Dilip Bista of Bhimdatta-19. Protesters imposed a general strike in Mahendranagar for Tuesday and Wednesday demanding the release of Bista.
Police had to fire two tear gas shells even on Wednesday to disperse the crowd. Agitating locals burned tires on the road from early morning. Schools and shops remained shut.
