KATHMANDU, Jan 7: A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Nepal-China border, with its epicenter in Dingri County, Tibet, whose tremors were registered across various provinces of Nepal.
The earthquake occurred at 6:50 am, affecting the districts of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces. According to locals, the weather in Madhesh province suddenly changed after the earthquake. While the morning weather had been favorable, residents reported that after the quake, at around 6:45 am, the conditions took a drastic turn. Strong winds began to blow, and the city was enveloped in mist. Locals mentioned that the mist was accompanied by winds blowing from the west.

In Nepal, strong tremors were registered in Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Tehrathum, Taplejung, Dhankuta, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Panchthar, and Ilam. Meanwhile, moderate tremors shook Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, and Udayapur.
