KATHMANDU, July 5: The Madhesh Province Assembly is likely to pass the province’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 on Friday.
The meeting of the province assembly called at 11 AM on Friday had planned to pass the budget today following a discussion.
On June 7, Satish Kumar Singh of Janamat Party was appointed as the chief minister (CM) of the province with the support of the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Nagarik Unmukti Party. After seven days of his appointment, the fiscal year’s budget was made public.
Discussions over budget could not happen due to disagreements on Red-Book as most of the lawmakers expressed disagreements saying that the Red Book did not address their concerns.
Likewise, CM Singh is preparing to take a vote of confidence in tomorrow's province assembly meeting. However, the political landscape of the federal government drastically changed and the parties are yet to decide their votes.
