JANAKPURDHAM, Feb 17: Madhesh Province Chief Minister (CM) Saroj Kumar Yadav will take the vote of confidence on Sunday.

CM Yadav is going to take a vote of confidence on Sunday to show that he has the support of the majority members of the provincial assembly after Janamat Party withdrew its support to the government.

Constitutionally, when any party withdraws its support from the government, CM must seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly within thirty-three days to prove the majority.

According to this requirement, the provincial assembly secretariat has called a meeting at 2 PM on Sunday, where Chief Minister Yadav will propose the vote of confidence to the parties.

Despite the Janamat Party's withdrawal of support to the government on January 23, Chief Minister Yadav maintains a clear majority.

He has support from all parties represented in the provincial assembly except the Janamat Party. With 107 members in the Madhesh province, a majority requires the support of 54 MPs. CM Yadav, however, has the backing of 94 MPs.

Under CM Yadav's leadership, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) holds 19 MPs, the Nepali Congress has 22, CPN-UML has 24, the Maoist Center has 9, the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party has 9, the Unified Socialist Party has 7, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has 1, the Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party has 1, the Nagarik Unmukti Party has 1, and there is 1 independent MP. The support of 94 MPs has been maintained.
