JANAKPURDHAM, June 14: Saroj Kumar Yadav, the chief minister (CM) of Madhesh Province, has received the vote of confidence for a second time. On Tuesday, all 103 provincial assembly members present in the provincial assembly gave their vote of confidence to CM Yadav.

On May 15, CPN-UML withdrew its support to Madhesh government. For the same reason, after 29 days, CM Yadav submitted a motion of confidence in the provincial assembly on Tuesday. He took the vote of confidence for a second time in his tenure.

Chief Minister Yadav, who was confused about taking the vote of confidence after the CPN-UML exited the government, took the vote of confidence at the last moment to avoid legal questions.

Yadav, who became the Chief Minister after getting 100% vote of confidence from the members of the provincial assembly, was sure that he would not have to take a vote of confidence even after the CPN-UML left the government.

Chief Minister Yadav ignored the legal provision that a vote of confidence should be taken within 30 days after the CPN-UML left the ruling coalition. However, Chief Minister Yadav called a meeting of the Provincial Assembly at 5 PM on Tuesday after being advised by his legal advisers that someone could file a writ petition in the court and that would not be favorable to the Chief Minister.

The Provincial Assembly Secretariat sent an SMS to the Provincial Assembly members informing them that the Provincial Assembly meeting had been called for 5 PM on Tuesday. Since most of the provincial assembly members of Madhesh Province were outside Janakpur, the meeting was called at 5 PM, giving them enough time to reach Janakpur.

In the provincial assembly, there are 23 members from CPN-UML, 22 from Nepali Congress, 18 from Janata Samajwadi Party, 13 from Janmat Party, nine members each from Loktantrik Samajwadi  Party (LSP) and the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Unified Socialist Party. There is one member each from Nepal Federal Socialist Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party. There are also three independent members.
