Madan Puraskar winner Amar Neupane releases ‘Gulabi Umer’

Winner of prestigious ‘Madan Puraskar 2076 BS’, author Amar Neupane launched his new book ‘Gulabi Umer’ on Saturday. Litterateur Krishna Dharabasi, actress Keki Adhikari and author Neupane jointly unveiled the book amid the book launch event at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaldi.

Winner of prestigious ‘Madan Puraskar 2076 BS’, author Amar Neupane launched his new book ‘Gulabi Umer’ on Saturday. Litterateur Krishna Dharabasi, actress Keki Adhikari and author Neupane jointly unveiled the book amid the book launch event at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaldi.


Addressing the event, Dharbasi said that the book is based on the psychology of an adult. “The book is trying to unfold the psychological development in a girl, the changes in their behavior over the time and behavior towards their parent,” he added.

 “Moreover, it also reflects Freud’s Electra complex. Some texts in the novel carry newness.”


Similarly, actress Keki Adhikari commented on the book in a different perspective. She said, “While reading the book, it gave me a nostalgic feeling about my adulthood days.  I think every girl could relate to the character in the book and they can also get nostalgic about the changes.”


Author Neupane revealed that the book is an unsaid homework given by his students. “During my 12-years-long teaching career, I used to give homework to my students. And during that phase of my life, the students too taught me some life lesson which initiated my journey to this book,” he said.


Published by Fineprints, it is priced Rs 498.
