KATHMANDU, May 17: On the 17th death anniversary of the late Madan Bhandari and Jivaraj Ashrit, various programs were organized all over the country to pay tributes to the leaders.

Many cadres reached Dasdhunga in memory of the late UML leaders and garlanded their statues. Local UML leaders from six districts including Chitwan spoke about the concept of People´s Multiparty Democracy propounded by Bhandari.

Speaking on the occasion, UML´s Chitwan chairman Krishna Khanal, requested all to not to confine Bhandari only in memory. Vice-chairman Krishna Bhakta Pokharel said it is sad that the mystery behind the accident death of the leaders has not been revealed even though the UML is heading the government.

The then general secretary of the party, Bhandari, and the then party´s organizational department chief Ashrit, were killed in a jeep accident at Dasdhunga while heading from Chitwan to Kathmandu.

A condolence program was also organized by Madan-Ashrit Smiriti Pratisthan in Madanchowk in Dhankuta in memory of the duo.

In Kathmandu, a memorial was held at the party headquarters at Balkhu.
