LWPF celebrates International Youth Day 2023 by planting trees at UN Park

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: In commemoration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2023, Lumbini World Peace Forum (LWPF) organized a tree-planting event as a part of ‘1 Million Trees Plantation and Conservation Campaign’ at United Nations Park in Jwagal, Lalitpur, joined by over 100 youths on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: In commemoration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2023, Lumbini World Peace Forum (LWPF) organized a tree-planting event as a part of ‘1 Million Trees Plantation and Conservation Campaign’ at United Nations Park in Jwagal, Lalitpur, joined by over 100 youths on Saturday.


According to a press statement issued by LWPF, the theme of this year’s International Youth Day is “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”. Dr Birendra Prasad Mahato, Minister for Forest and Environment, graced the occasion by planting a Kapur Tree, symbolizing growth and sustainable development. The event demonstrated the commitment of young individuals to environmental conservation and global harmony. By planting trees, they contributed to a sustainable future and a peaceful world, according to the statement.

Observed every year on August 12, the IYD offers a platform to honor the qualities of youth and the potential they hold for the development of a nation and the world as a whole. The day also acknowledges the challenges faced by youth and the ways to address them.
