KATHMANDU, May 13: Gita Gurung, a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly representing the Janamat Party under the proportional representation system, has resigned from her position.
In the resignation letter sent to the Speaker, she stated that she felt it was not appropriate to receive a salary paid from the taxes of the people. “My belief is that no one is above the nation, the country and the people," she wrote, “I do not find it appropriate to receive a salary paid from the taxes of the people. Therefore, I hereby submit my resignation effective from today.”
