Logo and slogan unveiled for Karnali-Rara Tourism Year

SURKHET, April 1: A logo for the ‘Karnali-Rara Tourism Year 2075 B.S.’ that is going to be inaugurated on April 14, has been released on Saturday by the provincial government of Karnali.

SURKHET, April 1: A logo for the ‘Karnali-Rara Tourism Year 2075 B.S.’ that is going to be inaugurated on April 14, has been released on Saturday by the provincial government of Karnali. 


Chief Minister of Karnali, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, unveiled the logo and slogan for the campaign at a press meet in Birendranagar.  


The inauguration event of the tourism year has been scheduled to be attended by Prime Minister, ministers from federal government and chief ministers from seven provinces.

The campaign will be inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Unveiling the logo and slogan, Chief Minister Shahi has requested both domestic and international tourists to visit Rara once in a lifetime to experience natural beauty of Karnali.


He said that despite the lack of physical infrastructure, one must visit Rara to witness real beauty of the nature. “I humbly request all the travel lovers to visit Karnali once in their lifetime to experience the nature and the beauty of Karnali,” he said. He further expressed his belief that Karnali Tourism Year will contribute to reduce poverty from the region.


“I believe this campaign will help to foster the lifestyle of citizens of Karnali region,” he said, adding that from April 14, the region will move toward prosperity. 


“Tourist route will be constructed to reach Rara Lake along with other tourist destinations,” he said. “Tourist destinations will be promoted in both national and international markets.” 


He further committed to implement required promotional activities and also to expand telephone and internet access to mark the Karnali Tourism Year. 


Dal Rawal, social development minister, said that the third provincial cabinet meeting has been scheduled to be held at Rara after the inauguration of the tourism year. The provincial government has expected 500,000 tourists to visit Rara during the tourism year. “In the past years we have a record of 50,000 tourists visiting Rara annually but this year we believe the number will reach 500,000,” Rawal added. 


Minister for Physical Infrastructure Khadka Khatri assured that the surface route to Karnali is being improved. 


“For the comfort of tourists visiting Rara we are working on upgrading Karnali Highway,” he said. He further claimed that they are making an effort to upgrade the highway to operate it round the year.
