Local level elections: Lama elected in Narpabhumi and Ghale in Chame

MANANG, May 14: Konjo Tenzing Lama of Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the chairperson of Narpabhumi Rural Municipality. He was elected with 158 votes. His nearest rival was an independent candidate, who received 111 votes.

MANANG, May 14: Konjo Tenzing Lama of Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the chairperson of Narpabhumi Rural Municipality. He was elected with 158 votes. His nearest rival was an independent candidate, who received 111 votes. 


Of the total of 448 voters, only 304 votes were cast in Narpabhoomi Rural Municipality.

Similarly, Lokendra Bahadur Ghale of CPN-UML has been elected as Chairman of Chame Rural Municipality. He was elected with 320 votes. His nearest rival Chhiring Dhwarje Lama of the Nepali Congress (NC) secured 277 votes. A total of 610 votes were cast. 


Mingmar Dhoma Lama of the Nepali Congress has been elected as the Vice Chairman of Chame. Chief of the District Election Office, Pushparaj Sharma, shared that the counting of votes has been completed in two of the four municipalities in the district. 


The counting of votes in Manang, Ngisyang and Naso Rural Municipalities is currently underway, which will be completed by this evening. 


The district recorded a 62.60 percent turnout among the total 6,496 voters. Altogether 4,077 votes have been cast, said Chief Election Officer Punaram Khanal.
