KATHMANDU, May 8: Adults comprise a significant number of candidates to various positions in the upcoming local level election.
According to the Election Commission, 76,162 candidates are aged between 35 years to 50 years of age. Among them, 39,669 are males and 27,493 are females. The number of candidates between 21 years to 35 years is 35,258 including 18,780 males and 16,478 women.

Similarly, the number of candidates between 51 years and 65 years is 37054 including 26,515 males and 10,539 females. Candidates above 65 years of age number 5,527 including 4,350 men and 1,177 women.
The local level election is being held on May 13 for a total 35,221 posts of 753 local levels. There are a total of 145,010 candidates. A total of 3,238 candidates are contesting for the post of municipality mayors, 1,964 for the post of deputy mayors, 3,092 for the post of chairpersons and 2,163 for the post of vice-chairpersons of the rural municipality.
Similarly, there are 32,496 candidates for the ward chair positions, 53,173 for ward members, 25, 599 for women members and 23,285 for dalit women member at the ward level.
