KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The local businessmen of the New Road area have closed the shutters of their shops and started a second day protest.
After the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) banned parking on the streets in the New Road area, they have been claiming that customers will not come if they are not allowed to park there.
The protestors carried placards that read, ‘Let's oppose the parking ban by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City without any alternative’.
According to the metropolis, parking is prohibited on the roads around Dharmapath, Juddha Salik to Indrachowk, Khichapokhari, Mahabuddha and Bir Hospital.
KMC has made arrangements for a free parking facility at Kathmandu Tower where 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers can be parked at a time.
