Life without You

Life without You

Trapped in time, your memories still remind me of your presence, love, and smile. But we were fools to not see this coming. If I knew you could never be mine, I would have never let myself get close to your heart.

Life; without you my existence is meaningless. Only God knows how far I’ve wandered to find the meaning of my life after you left. However, fate always took me back to your memories. No matter how hard I tried to move on, I’d ricochet back to you.

Silence has replaced your laughter. Your voice buzzes deep inside. Also, your smile haunts so bad that it wrenches out every beat of my heart. Still, every shattered beat never gets tired.

Do you remember the moment I fell on my knee to propose you in front of everyone in college? You replied, “Yes dear, I Love you too.”

Listening to those magical words made me the happiest.

It hurts remembering my bygone happiness. You  have been gone for long, far into the clouds, somewhere over the rainbow. I’m not strong enough to reach you and  bring you back.

When we meet up there, I’ll ask whoever runs the show why he couldn’t bear seeing us happy together. You never know when it’s going to be the last time you see someone. I had so many things to share and longed for a beautiful journey together.

We were walking together, making plans of our life together. You had no idea that I was serious. I would give anything to see your innocence, excitement, and surprises again. I finally asked if you would marry me. Everyone in the hall toasted for us; I slid the ring, and we got engaged. We were ready to give our relationship a new name. You were already making plans for our honeymoon.

I watched you silently , as I read your expressions. Then my cell phone buzzed.

‘It’s from work’, I said and walked out of the restaurant.

I was informed about my promotion. This could have been the happiest day of my life. However, destiny had planned for something else. Before I could get to you, everything, everywhere started shaking. People started running for their lives.  Buildings collapsed, and the dust rose above ground.

The building you were in couldn’t bear the wrath of nature. It was leveled to the ground. I ran for you, but it was already too late. Along with you, my existence also got buried in the dead  of silence.
