BIRGUNJ, Jan 7: Normal life in Birgunj is gradually returning to normal from this morning after an all-party meeting reached a consensus to resolve protests that had continued for the past few days.
A curfew had been imposed in the city for two consecutive days due to the protests. Although markets began opening partially from Tuesday evening, normal life has been steadily resuming since today. Schools, markets, industries, and factories have now fully reopened.

Parsa Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said normalcy is returning to Birgunj following the agreement reached in the all-party and all-stakeholder meeting. “With consensus achieved, daily life here is gradually normalizing,” he said.
CDO Dahal explained that the curfew had been imposed to maintain peace and security, as issues linked to social and religious sentiments could have triggered clashes between two communities. The curfew, enforced from Monday to prevent potential risks and restore normalcy, was lifted after consensus was reached in the meeting, he added.
With the curfew lifted, public movement has resumed in Birgunj’s markets, and shops along the main road have reopened. Rickshaws, tongas, motorcycles, and other vehicles are also operating as usual.
Following the agreement reached in the all-party and all-stakeholder meeting held under the leadership of the District Administration Office on Tuesday, the curfew imposed since Monday was lifted from 3:00 pm on Tuesday.
