Fines for traffic rule violations to be imposed through digital payments
KATHMANDU, Oct 19: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced on Saturday that the general public will no longer be necessary to carry a physical copy of their driver's license card.
He shared a Facebook post on Saturday afternoon, declaring that arrangements have been made to provide the license directly on mobile devices through the Nagarik App.

According to him, this new system will be implemented as a pilot program from Sunday at the Transport Management Office, Bagmati Province. “Even the individuals who have just passed the trial for the license will now be able to obtain a digital license on the Nagarik App instead of a physical license card,” PM Oli stated in the social media post.
As per PM Oli, this system will not only eliminate the issues related to the printing of driver’s licenses but also remove the hassle associated with paying fines for traffic rule violations. A feature has been introduced in the Nagarik app enabling digital payments on the spot for the fines issued by traffic police for traffic rule violations.
In the social media post, Oli stated, “We are working to free citizens from the problem of having to stand in line for any service. We hope that this facility will help facilitate faster service delivery from the state.”
The government’s new plan is in line with Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar’s commitment shared at the Police Day program on Thursday that police will start operating the Traffic Violation Record Software (TVRS) system through the Nagarik app from next week.
