KATHMANDU, May 25: Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Chairman Upendra Yadav on Thursday asked the leaders of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) and Nepal Loktantrik Forum (NLF) to institutionalize the achievements of the Madhes Movement capitalizing on the local level elections.
Leader Yadav asked RJPN Chairperson Mahantha Thakur and NLF Chief Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar to form an electoral alliance for the second phase of local level elections arguing that it is the need of the time to join hands to respect the feelings of the Madhesi people.
‘Capitalize on local polls to institutionalize federalism’
“We are not against the local level elections but neither do we have our party registered in the Election Commission nor got an electoral symbol,” a source privy to the meeting quoted Thakur as saying.
In reply, Yadav assured Thakur of taking the initiative in providing the electoral symbol.
The meeting was held at the residence of Thakur in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
It is learnt that Gachchhadar took the proposal positively while Thakur did not give any clear answer.
RJPN was formed comprising six Madhes-centric parties recently.
