Learn from China: Minister to players

GUANGZHOU, Nov 14: Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Tiwari Nepali has suggested to Nepali players to learn from the development and living style of neighboring country China which is hosting the 16th Asian Games (Asiad). Tiwari holds the portfolio of Nepali team leader in the Asiad currently underway in Guangzhou.



During his visit to the players´ village on Sunday, Minister Nepali said, "Now we are in our neighboring country and we should try to learn from them in every step. [brek]



Here we are among 45 nations of Asia and we have the opportunity to directly interact with and learn from all of them. Along with this, we also need medals as achievement."



Minister Nepali was speaking to players following his meeting with Guangzhou Deputy Mayor and Asiad organizing committee secretary Chen Saokad. During his meeting with the officials and players, Minister Nepali said the sports sector was capable of establishing peace and democracy and they were essential in Nepal.



On the occasion, Umesh Lal Shrestha, the chef de mission of the Nepali team, briefed the minister regarding the participation and lodging of players and the results of matches already contested by Nepal.



National Sports Council Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary said that all stakeholders had joined forces despite disputes and disagreements to make the Asiad participation a success.



Minister Nepali during his meeting with Deputy Mayor Saokad said that he was highly impressed by the preparation and grand organization of the Games. "We are very much satisfied with your works and it is worth learning from you," he said.



During the meeting, Deputy Mayor Saokad said that such event would be important for exchange of cultures and also promised to lend all possible support to the Nepali team. "We wish the Nepali team´s stay in China to be pleasant and successful, and we will provide all required support," Saokad added.
