KATHMANDU, July 10: Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC said the leaders of the major political parties met visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid ignoring diplomatic protocols.

He said the leaders did not bother to visit flood-ravaged Darchula district but they were very keen to line up for a meeting with the Indian minister. “This tendency of ours is weakening our nationality day by day,” he said. [break]

KC said the Constituent Assembly elections will take place since the four parties have agreed for a roundtable conference and more seats under proportional representation election system. He was of the opinion that the November 19 elections have now become more certain as both the immediate neighbors, China and India, want the polls to be held at that date.

The anti-federalist leader further said the dissident CPN-Maoist will have nothing to win by disrupting the elections. He however was of the view that utmost efforts should be made to ensure the participation of all parties in the elections, through intensive talks. “The country will return to a dictatorial rule if the November elections do not materialize,” he added, “and the Nepali people might have to go for another mass uprising.”
