DAO has filed a lawsuit against the owners of Anmol Sweets and Kanhaiya Ghee under the Black Marketeering Act while the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) has filed the case against Pushpa Dairy as per the Food Act.
The owner of Kanhaiya Ghee has been sent to Dillibazaar jail after he failed to pay a bail amount of Rs 1 million as sought by the DAO earlier. The manager of Anmol Sweets Suman Thapa, on the other hand, has been freed on Friday after he submitted a bail of Rs 200,000 as per the DAO´s instruction.
District Administration Office has said that it will take necessary action against Anmol Sweets after conducting a detailed investigation.
The lab reports have already shown that the food samples taken from both Anmol Sweets and Kanhaiya Ghee were found spurious.
Meanwhile, DFTQC has filed a lawsuit against Pushpa Dairy after lab reports showed that the milk produced by the firm contained high amount of chloroform and salt.
Lawsuit against the owners of Corner Taja Gudpak Bhandar, Manendralal Maskey and Madanbabu Maskey, and the owner of Shree Krishna Gudpak Bhandar, Milanlal Maskey--the two most popular gudpak sellers in the city--will be filed on Sunday. The two gudpak stores were found using rotten and substandard raw materials apart from recycling the date-expired Gudpak.
