Landslides hit revenue collection in Rasuwa

RASUWA, Aug 23:  Revenue collection in Rasuwa district has been adversely affected due to landslides triggered by incessant rain obstructed the road since July 27. 

According to the local administration, efforts were underway to resume traffic on the obstructed road that has disrupted the entry of the tourists, revenue collection, import and exports of construction materials as well as ferrying patients to hospitals. 

Chief District Officer in Rasuwa, Krishna Poudel, shared that the Kaliprasad Engineering Battalion of Nepal Army in the district has already approached the Ministry of Home Affairs to mobilize Nepal Army in clearing the debris off the road and reconstruct the obstructed road to resume traffic. 

Landsides had hit in two places surrounding Trishuli River at Dhunche-Bharkhu and Rasuwagadhi. Ekata Trade Association said that the knickknacks imported from China to Nepal in view of upcoming women's Festival Teej has been halted at the checkpoint. 

The go-downs here have been overloaded with those imported goods and are bound to run short of space very soon, according to Musa Transport, the biggest transportation company in Kerung of China that imports made-in-China products to Nepal. 

Chief Revenue Officer Gopal Koirala shared that the revenue collection amounting to over Rs 489 million has been affected due to the obstructed road. 

Association Chair Tapindra Prasad Timilsina said that the concerned local authorities have been requested to bring the halted road into operation at the earliest, adding that goods worth billions were stuck in Chinese checkpoint. 

Division of Road's Director General Rabindra Nath Shrestha said that the Nepal Army has been requested to provide explosive materials to clear off the debris and resume traffic in one of the roads in bordering point of strategic significance. RSS
