Dipak Singh Lothyal, of Ghusa-7, told myrepublica.com over the phone that incidents of landslides are taking place one after another. "Landslides have rendering locals homeless," Lothyal said. According to him, this year´s first landslide took place three weeks ago in Ghusa. A number of landslides have taken place since then in and around Ghusa.

According to Lothyal, landslides have also damaged cropfields in Ghusa. After landslides damaged all roads leading to the only health post of Ghusa, people have been deprived of health service. Three schools including Mahadev Secondary School have been shut down for several weeks as students have been stranded in their houses.

Settlements in wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Sunsera VDC are under the risk of landslides. "Villagers have been staying awake at nights due to the fear of landslides," Lothyal said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tek Bahadur Gurung said that there has been no case of human casualty due to landslides. "We have deployed police personnel to rescue people rendered homeless by landslides," DSP Gurung told myrepublica.com.
