Locals said that the area has been frequently been hit by landslides since the past five years. A huge swathe of land along with crops have been destroyed by the landslides. Chief District Officer of Myagdi Yagya Raj Bohora said police have been sent to the landslide affected area. The police is yet to collect the details of damages.
Meanwhile, our correspondent from Dharan reported that Natural Resources Committee of the parliament Tuesday inspected the areas under threat of erosion from Koshi river. Parliamentarians Yashoda Adhikari, Ranadhwaj Kandangwa and Ram Kumar Sherma of the committee visited four spurs at Pulthegauda in Barahachhetra VDC that have been damaged by the raging river.
The visiting parliamentarians acknowledged the spurs no 9, 10, 11 and 12 are under great threat and assured the locals to take initiatives to repair them. The locals fear that the river might enter human settlements through the canal in Chatara if the spurs were not repaired on time.
