Landslide blocks Prithvi Highway, vehicular movement closed in Mugling-Narayanghat road section

CHITWAN, Sept 28: Landslides in various areas of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality in Chitwan have blocked the Prithvi Highway.


Landslides from above in Mawa Khola, Dati Khola, and Panidhara in Ichhakamana-3, as well as in Ghoptibhir of Ward Number 4, have completely blocked the Prithvi Highway.

The landslide occurred in Ghoptibhir at 4 AM today. Shortly thereafter, landslides were reported in Mawa Khola, Dati Khola and Panidhara in Ichhakamana-3, according to the District Administration Office, Chitwan. 


Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav stated that two excavators from the road division office are currently being used to clear the landslide debris.


Similarly, the section of road collapsed at Nau Kilo on the Narayanghat-Mugling road this morning, completely blocking the passage of large vehicles.


Officials said the road section has collapsed by up to two feet. The Road Division Office in Bharatpur has reported that the heavy rainfall and flood in the area is further collapsing the road section. At the same location, a Bolero jeep (Pra 3-01-024 Cha 3056) coming from Jugedi towards Mugling has fallen.


The road office has stated that only two-wheelers and light vehicles can pass from that location. Repair work will begin by filling the depressed area with gravel. The office has requested those traveling through  this road section to exercise necessary caution, remain alert and adhere to lane discipline.
