KATHMANDU, May 26: Maoist Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai has blamed the government´s rigid stance for the protracted political deadlock.

In a meeting with UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren at his residence Wednesday, Bhattarai said his party is ready to extend CA term and end the impasse, but the government has become indifferent to the deepening political crisis.

Bhattarai´s aide Bishwadeep Pandey said UNMIN chief expressed concern about teh fate of peace process if the CA term is not extended.

In reply, Bhattarai said the government has stood on the way to peace process and constitution-drafting. “The prime minister should step down to pave way for consensus,” Pandey quoted Bhattarai as saying.

Bhattarai also told Landgren that his party is flexible to strike a deal with the ruling parties.
