JUMLA, Nov 28: The land acquisition process for Jumla Airport expansion and construction of a new terminal building has started. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started the process of acquiring 183.80 ropanis of land for the purpose.


Santosh Adhikari, chief of Jumla Airport Office, said that the CAAN has published a preliminary public notice regarding land acquisition, informing the stakeholders.

“According to Section (b) of Section 4 (1) of the Land Acquisition Act, 2034 BS, the process has started to acquire about 183.80 ropanis of land to the north and east of the airport for the expansion of the airport runway and construction of a new terminal building,” said Adhikari.


The Council of Ministers, on May 16, 2023, decided to allow CAAN to expand the airport. With the expansion of the airport, it is expected that there will be no problem in landing of medium-sized aircraft at the airp[ort.


Earlier, a team of Nepal Oil Corporation and CAAN had returned after monitoring the selection of land required for the establishment of a fuel center at Jumla Airport.
