Kaski District Court concludes recording Lamichhane’s statement

Kaski District Court registrar Rajan Khanal said that Judge Nitij Rai concluded recording Lamichhane’s statement on Friday. The recording of the statement began on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Kaski District Court has concluded recording the statement of Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is accused of embezzlement of depositors’ savings of five cooperatives across the country including Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Cooperative.


Kaski District Court registrar Rajan Khanal said that Judge Nitij Rai concluded recording Lamichhane’s statement on Friday. The recording of the statement began on Thursday.


According to Khanal, the recording of statements of Chhabi Lal Joshi, Leela Pachai and Lamichhane– who are all accused in the same case– has been completed so far.

Now, the recording of statements of the director of Nature Herbs International Pvt Ltd Ram Bahadur Khanal, former MP Mina Gurung, former treasurer Aarati Gurung, former director Lalit Bahadur Gurung and former owner Krishna Bahadur Gurung is pending.


The court said that the hearing on detention and the consequent order will be made once the statement of all the defendants is completed. Last Sunday, the Kaski District Government Attorney's Office (DGAO), filed a case against 44 people, including Lamichhane, on charges of misappropriation of cooperative funds. The DGAO filed a case against Lamichhane on charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering.
