NKA is the first national association to conduct its electoral general assembly after NSC notified to conduct election within two months to all associations run by ad hoc committees.[break]
The NKA general assembly held on Thursday elected Raj Mohmmad Ansari, Bisnu Prasad Lohani and Sarad Pokhrel as vice presidents while Ram Chandra Bhatta has been elected for the post of general secretary. Bimal Pokhrel is secretary in the new executive committee and Chet Narayan Sharma is the treasurer.
Ram Dev Yadav, Tara Singh Bhat, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Shiva Bhakta Sainju, Lok Bahadur Shah, Madan Karki, Jiwan Shrestha, Nita Thapa, Rajendra Bhandari, Rajiv Lamichhane, Upendra Yadav and Nabin Bhattarai are members in the 19-member executive committee. The executive committee was elected unopposed.
Newly elected President Lama said that the general assembly had ended all the disputes in Nepali kabaddi and claimed his committee is also supported by NKA led by Sunil Rajkarnikar and recognized by international federations.
Rajkarnikar denies Lama´s claim
However, Rajkarnikar refuted Lama´s claim and said that his NKA committee has not reached any agreement with any other NKA body. “We have not reached in any agreement. They have not called representatives from different districts for general assembly. Conducting general assembly in such style ruined the environment when we were trying to resolve the dispute,” said Karnikar.
He claimed that the committee led by Lama will not get international recognition. Rajkarnikar is the general secretary of South Asian Kabaddi Association, senior vice president of Asian Kabaddi Federation and vice president of International Kabaddi Federation.
He said that NKA body under his leadership will also hold general assembly soon.
