More than 15 international instructors, artists and performers from around the world have come together for the festival that will be held at Shangri~La Hotel, Lazimpat.
Encouraged by last year’s response, the organizers have included additional attractions this year such as Bollywood dance workshops, Hip Hop and popular forms of Latin dance.
“There’s so much to see, learn and experience at the festival this year. We want to cater to as many people as we can,” shared Katia Verrault, managing director of Salsa Dance Academy.
Verrault, who has been teaching and promoting Salsa for the last 6 years in Kathmandu, sees a tremendous growth in the general interest towards dance. And it’s this enthusiasm that the festival aims to tap, shared the Canadian native.
“Renowned international instructors have flown in especially for the event. There are Hip Hop and contemporary dance instructors from France, Salsa and Latin dancers from USA, UK, Hong Kong, India, Canada, Singapore and Australia. We have special packages for professionals. Everyone has something to look forward to at the three-day dance fiesta,” said Verrault.
The festival aims to teach as well as entertain people who are curious to learn. Dance workshop begins every day, 9 am - 4 pm, with special shows slotted during the afternoons, followed by social parties and competitions during the evenings.
The highlights of the event include Belly dancing with Sita, the Netherlands based dancer, who is back on popular demand, Locking and Top Rock with Hip Hop instructor of L.danse Company, France, Laure Thouault and Shiamak Davar’s Bollywood dance workshop.
