BIRATNAGAR, July 29: The Koshi Provincial Government has announced Rs 200,000 in relief for the family of the person killed in the recent violence in Dewangunj, Sunsari.
Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki announced during an all-party meeting held in Biratnagar on Wednesday. He also said families whose homes and shops were damaged in the unrest would receive Rs 50,000 each in relief from the provincial government.
The meeting adopted an eight-point resolution aimed at restoring peace, maintaining law and order, and strengthening communal harmony following the violence that erupted on the night of July 26.

Participants paid tribute to the deceased, Om Prakash Mehta, extended condolences to the bereaved family, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
The meeting also agreed to organize all-party and multi-stakeholder meetings at the local level, promote reconciliation and social harmony through public outreach programs, and coordinate with local administrations to conduct peace marches and awareness campaigns.
In addition, religious organizations were urged to issue a joint appeal for communal harmony, while security agencies were instructed to remain vigilant against any cross-border activities that could further escalate tensions. The meeting also requested the federal government to provide relief to the victim’s family and ensure treatment for those injured.
Chief Minister Karki called on all stakeholders to play a constructive role in preserving social harmony and urged the public to refrain from activities that could inflame tensions during the sensitive period.
The meeting was attended by representatives of major political parties, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML, as well as senior provincial security officials.
