KATHMANDU, Oct 1: The Parliamentary Party leader of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Paudel, has said that the NC will in no way split and the democracy will not be left rudderless.

He, however, said that different games are being played behind the curtain to split the party aiming to fulfill some petty interests. [break]

Paudel said, "I am committed to moving the party ahead in a unified way. I will devote myself to unite the party and I will not let the NC split."

Speaking at a programme organized in Gokarna on Saturday, he said the agreement reached between the leaders recently was a conspiracy.

He made it clear that he directly discarded the agreement as the proposal was not brought in the party central committee meeting and was not tabled among the party leaders as well.

It is reported that NC President Sushil Koriala and Senior Leader Sher Bahadur Deuba had agreed to approve the nomination of the party office bearers from the party central committee meeting and, in return, to make Deuba parliamentary party leader and not to dissolve the party´s sister organizations.

But Paudel said leaders of both factions have been interpreting on their own for and against the agreement, and added it was a conspiracy if the agreement was forged as it has widened rift in the party.

He urged the NC cadres to be cautious over the squabbles in the party at a time when unity in party was necessary for drafting the constitution.

Lawmaker and NC central leader Ambika Basnet said the decision to dissolve the party sister organizations had brought problems in the party.
