Knight Chess defeat hosts to enter final

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Added time goals from Yogesh Gurung and Deepak Rai helped Knight Chess Club, Jhapa, secure a final spot on Tuesday as they defeated the hosts Workers Martyrs´ Memorial Club 3-1 in the first semifinal of the ongoing Workers Martyrs´ Memorial Cup Knockout Football Tournament held at Dasharath Stadium.



Knight Chess will meet the winners of the second semifinal match to be held on Wednesday between Gorkha Boys´ Club, Rupandehi, and Pokhara XI. [break]



Knight Chess, trailing 1- 0 in the first half, leveled the scoring in the 60th minute through Deepak Rai. The remaining regulation time ended without gaining any goals.



Yogesh Gurung scored in the 14th minute of the added time to pile pressure on the hosts while Deepak scored his second three minutes from time to ensure victory for Knight Chess.



Earlier, Suraj Sagarkoti opened the scoring in the 42nd minute for the hosts.
