KMC to sterilize community cats and dogs

The Metropolis has also called for applications from organisations willing to vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies.

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to sterilise community dogs and cats within the metropolitan area in the fiscal year 2025/26.

The Metropolis has also called for applications from organisations willing to vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies. It has called on the interested organisations to contact the KMC Agriculture and Livestock Department within 15 days and submit an application with all the required testimonials.


Veterinarian at the Department Dr Puja Khanal stated that KMC sterilized 5,500 dogs and cats, and vaccinated 16,000 against rabies in the fiscal year 2022/23. She stated that 670 cats and dogs were sterilised and 16,569 were vaccinated against rabies in the fiscal year 2023/24.
